Up until 2020 St Michael’s was managing with a one borehole pump which was really difficult in such a large school. The girls seemed to be pumping to fill their jerrycans every free moment. There were animals to water and school lunches to prepare and gardens to water.  In 2020 we funded a solar water pump which was installed by specialist water engineers. Solar Panels were put on a classroom block next to the borehole. The pump is capable of pumping 23 cubic metres a day into the large holding tank for distribution around the school including the kitchen area, farm and washroom.
